Another year has rolled around and, yep, it is ArtPrize time in Grand Rapids. This is when artists from all over the country and some from other countries take over our downtown with interesting and creative and perplexing and beautiful pieces of art in all media.
ArtPrize changes every year with more or less outdoor works and efforts to challenge and amaze us all. This year the organizers have included more evening events and even a “Festival within the Festival.”
People are voting. Short lists created. The conversations in Grand Rapids revolve around the question, “What have you seen?”
The boundaries have changed as Site:Lab expanded their stellar effort to a whole neighborhood in an area outside of the downtown with repurposed buildings and lots of Performance Art. The beer garden adds a party element. Who said Art can’t be fun?
But….let’s stop yammering about ArtPrize and look at some images. Here’s a smidgeon of what I have seen.

Oct 5, 2015Susan: I am a friend of Annie’s in Marble Falls/Horseshoe Bay. She forwarded me your blog … and what a great blog it is! … what a great event! It looks fantastic and you have done a marvelous job of capturing so many elements of it! I want to come and see it in person … when is next year’s? Kay

Oct 5, 2015Thank you, Kay. I’m glad you enjoyed my blog. I have done blog posts about ArtPrize every year if you want to go back and see images of previous ArtPrize events. Simply do a search in the box in the right hand column.
I have seen next year’s dates published but ArtPrize typically starts the third Wednesday in September and runs about 2.5 weeks. I hope you will come to visit Grand Rapids and ArtPrize.
