When taking a quick look back at early spring and the March Madness and snow storms to see if there’s anything interesting to share, I am seeing that my life was Bits and Pieces.
All good….just Bits and Pieces. My trip to Israel was postponed. Given the news out of that part of the world, it may never get rescheduled. Whew. Things are rough there.
But I found plenty to do on our side of the globe. We do enjoy the bald eagles who live in our neighborhood. We’ve seen this guy carrying twigs through the air for much of the spring. We think he is fixing the nest for another family.
Grand Rapids Art Museum
The Grand Rapids Art Museum is a great place to hang out in March. The museum hosted a great exhibit called Presence, the private collection of a photographer and philanthropist, Judith Glickman Lauder. I visited it several times enjoying the historic images.
Art In Bloom
Art in Bloom is an event I try to never miss. It happens every other year and connects local floral designers with art from the permanent collection. Here’s some images from this year and a link to a prior blog post.
Isn’t this pretty? It is a tulip turned back on itself. It would never occur to me to force a flower to do that.
Butterflies Abound
Frederic Meijer Garden and Sculpture Park always hosts thousands of butterflies. Not to be missed you aren’t one of the folks who fly to the south.
Seattle
I enjoyed a brief trip to Seattle. Lots of fun stuff there including a darling grandson. Other sights include mountains, beautiful tree trunks, folks going for a very cold dip and a fun street crossing.
Snohomish
We visited a cute town north of the city called Snohomish. It’s an old farming community now a tourist destination known for antiques, odds and ends, cute stores and fun places to eat.
Just Walk Out
I’m not so sure the Amazon Fresh store is a DesignDestination, but it certainly is interesting to go grocery shopping and not have to go through a check out line. The technology baffles me but it worked. We got a listing of our purchased items in an email. No check out line. Apparently the sensors hanging from the ceiling kept track of what we put in our grocery cart.
Double Exposres
Lastly I hunkered down at home working on an online class on Double Exposures. Creating them was so much harder than I thought. While I really loved it, the composition, aesthetics and the technology challenged me to my max. The last image here says it all. Chaos in the brain.
