Happy Saint Patrick’s Day

Ahhhh, this is the weekend that all those Irishmen come out and say, “Top of the morning to ya” as they go about their daily doings.  As I prep some Shephards Pie to share with friends in the Irish tradition, I think about some of the places I’ve been in Ireland.  Happy memories.

I am posting links here to blogs in hopes that you’ll head to the Emerald Isle with me…….simply click the link below each photo to go to the blog post, taking a wee journey to a magical place.

Tall Castles dot the Irish Landscape

What a find! The Gregans Castle House Hotel in the Burren.

Visiting the Burren is a visual treat.  Lots of Irish music too.

Ashford Castle Hotel: An Extraordinary Experience

Loved staying at the Fitzwilliam Hotel in Dublin.

What a fun surprising–finding this memorial in a lush green corner of Dublin Square

I’m adding these two photos just for fun.  Both make me smile and think about the charming country called Ireland.

What makes you smile?  I hope you will share your favorite Irish memory, place to visit,  joke or famous Irish saying in the comment section below.

Note:  this is a blog post I did about ten years ago and have reposted for fun.  There are lots of other Ireland blog posts on this site if the Emerald Isle is of interest to you.

One of my favorites is about spending St. Patrick’s weekend in Chicago.

It was such fun to see the Chicago River turned green and all the Irish folks and Irish Wannabe’s turn out in goofy garb.

My ‘German’ Dad (and ND grad) made a very Irish toast at my wedding. I have always loved it…..’May the road rise up to meet you, May the wind be always at your back’…..and so on. It is a well worn and well loved irish blessing. No matter your background, everyone is a little bit Irish in their heart!!
