Cabo San Lucas: Spring Break treat.

A week in Cabo San Lucas, on the tip of the Baja Peninsula in Mexico is fun for the whole family but probably pretty predictable.    I’m not complaining.  Just observing.

Fishing. Hanging out on the Beach.  Touristy Restaurants.  Taking Pictures.  Golf.  Fruity drinks.   All good.  All Fun.

My dilemma: What to write about? I won’t highlight the Fun in the Sun activities  except to share some photos.   Instead I liked to describe two activities that stood out to me.

Flora Farms. Truly a DesignDestination.  Pretty flowers. A little shopping. Lunch.  But a lot more.

This twenty five acre organic farm is nestled in the Sierra de la Laguna Mountains north of San Jose.  While a bit tricky to find, we were glad we did.

We were greeted with a watermelon drink and a thirty minute tour giving us an over view of the property that includes: restaurant, bar, grocery, spa, shops and a destination for fun events.  And, of course, lots of plants.

Want to attend a cooking class?  Take an art class? Or learn about healing plants?  It’s all there at this very welcoming place.

After eating and shopping for Flora Farm produce, you might want to go to the San Jose Art Walk.

I really loved this wagon.  Aren’t the colors fantastic.  I could visualize lovely photo shoot on or around.  (The former fashion writer came out with that thought).

While not particularly original, the other standout thing we did was rent a small pontoon boat for the family to celebrate a special birthday—yep, we have a granddaughter who turned 16 on the trip.  (No pictures, the teenager asked).

The boat crew ably  took us around the harbor to sightsee. Of course, we took photos in front of the famous rock arch.

And then swimming off the boat was a real treat for some.  The boat included a Lily pad and plenty of life jackets so all were safe and enjoyed.

And some of us reclined on the upper level loungers.

I took a moment to capture this lovely creature near the dock reflected in the still water.

I personally got a kick out of trying to photograph the sea gulls who happily gathered nearby as our youngest grandchildren threw nachos out for them to catch mid-air.

Look at the boat behind?  Now that’s a Darth Vader of the mega sailing world.

Mexico is fun. Perfect for family holidays.  Too bad the grandparents need to vacation afterwards to recuperate from all the goofy-ness.    LOL
