Is Oregon Weird?

Alert!

This is going to be a strange blog post.  A little weird.

Not my usual pictures of pretty places and nice places to visit, sometimes on the exotic side.

When reviewing photos of a recent trip to Oregon I found a bunch I would put in the “weird” category and others I  didn’t exactly know what to do with.

Hmmmm.

Ignore? Post on FacebooK? Send to my kids?

Lots of options.

Instead I decided to do a google search called Is Oregon Weird?  Did my photos reflect the state of the state?

Well, it could be.

I frankly didn’t want to spend a huge amount of time on the subject.  I mean, who cares, really?

I came across a blog post from a guy venting about what a horrible place Oregon is to live because it is always gray and rainy.  He went on and on. Depressing.  I moved on.

 I found this one.

It’s actually pretty interesting.  If you are curious, take a look.

I decided the state does have a dollop of weirdness.

And finally I found this blog post one telling the origin of the Pronto Pup.

The Original Pronto Pup

“Of all the famous birthplaces that could make your road Oregon trip lineup, few compete with the humble corn dog, supposedly created in Rockaway with the goal of making an on-demand hot dog bun unaffected by Oregon rain. The original beachside location features an enormous rooftop Pronto Pup and a few vegetarian picks.”

This may not be weird but I found fascinating.

I always thought the Pronto Pup was a Grand Haven invention.  A culinary delight  those of us from West Michigan could be proud of.

No so, I read.  Its origins lies in Oregon, because, oh my, the rain. Who would have thought that?

Oh well.  Not the end of the world.  I did try a Pronto Pup in Seaside, a beach town near Cannon Beach, and I may be biased but Grand Haven ones are much better.  Like Much Better.

So, Now that I’ve rambled a bit, I will post the photos I didn’t know exactly what to do with.   Hope one or two make you smile.
