Highlights of a week in France

When I look back at my photos I am amazed with all we were able to see and do during a week in France in September.

Paris is a city for Art Experiences

A standout  in Paris was the  Atelier des Lumieres This is a fantastic digital art show in the 11th Arr  in an old  factory.  Hundreds of projectors burst with colorful and marvelous images accompanied with music ranging from classical to jazz.

We attended a show there last year (Klimt) and couldn’t wait to return this year.   Here’s blog post about that experience.  It gives a little more information about the experience.  We also attended a fantastic and futuristic digital art exhibit in Tokyo last April.  Here’s the link to that blog post. teamLab: Borderless

Both are worth getting tickets for if you are going to be in Paris or Tokyo

We enjoyed a half an hour Van Gogh presentation which was a little slower moving with less variety than last year’s Klimt but serenely beautiful. This was followed with a exotic visual trip to ancient Japan with colorful images of life and culture there.

Meanwhile the streets of the City of Light are always filled with delightful surprises.    I look up and down for visual treats to capture with my camera.

Seeing the Notre Dame, covered in scaffolding was sad.

Paris is Mecca for foodies.

My current favorite restaurant is one that specializes in Soufflés.

After a brief,  but delightful time in the City of Light,  we traveled to the south of France where we joined friends who live on their boat—truly adventuresome nautical nomads.

We had a great time sailing,  visited a seaside resort and working town called Sete and took a afternoon barge trip on the Canal du Midi.  I could have stayed longer, sailed more and maybe even explored the local beach resort.  Maybe another time.
